General description
1,2-dimyristoyl-d54-sn-glycero-3-[phospho-L-serine] (14:0 PS-d54) is a deuterated phosphoserine (PS) wherein 54 protons of dimyristoyl are replaced by deuterium.
Deuterated fatty acids experience exchange of the deuteriums on the alpha carbon to the carbonyl, i.e., C2 position, and will therefore be a mixture of compounds that are fully deuterated and partially deuterated at that position.
Application
1,2-dimyristoyl-d54-sn-glycero-3-[phospho-L-serine] (14:0 PS-d54) has been used to interact with lipid A to study the unspecific interaction of a phospholipid membrane with endotoxins. It has also been used as an apolar lipid internal standard for mass spectrometry.

Dystrophin is a large intracellular protein that prevents sarcolemmal ruptures by providing a mechanical link between the intracellular actin cytoskeleton and the transmembrane dystroglycan complex. Dystrophin deficiency leads to the severe muscle wasting disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and the milder

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is the most abundant negatively charged phospholipid in eukaryotic membranes. PS directs the binding of proteins that bear C2 or gamma-carboxyglutamic domains and contributes to the electrostatic association of polycationic ligands with cellular membranes.
