General description

An internal standard suitable for therapeutic drug monitoring analyses of methotrexate patient serum samples by LC-MS/MS. Used in the treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases, methotrexate is an antimetabolite and antifolate drug monitored by clinical labs to ensure patients remain within the drug′s therapeutic range. The Snap-N-Spike® solution format allows laboratories to eliminate weighing operations of hazardous substances such as methotrexate, significantly reducing occupational exposure hazards related to handling of acutely toxic powders, and provides the ability to spike into their matrix of choice just before use.

An effective wipe sampling and LC-MS/MS method was developed to simultaneously analyze six commonly administered antineoplastic drugs in stainless steel surface. The analyzed drugs were methotrexate, paclitaxel, cyclophosphamide, 5-fluorouracil, vincristine, and oxaliplatin, a frequently prepared antineoplastic drug that has not
