Sabouraud Dextrose Agar

Sabouraud Dextrose Contact Agar + LTHTh – ICR+ is designed for the determination of the total count of yeasts and molds on dry, sanitized surfaces and personnel in Clean rooms Isolators. Sabouraud Dextrose Medium contains digests of animal tissues (peptones) which provide a nutritious source of amino acids and nitrogenous compounds for the growth of fungi and yeasts. Dextrose is added as the energy and carbon source. The low pH favours fungal growth. The media is supplemented with the neutralizers lecithin, polysorbate (Tween^®) 80, histidine, sodium thiosulfate and pyruvate to inactivate possible residues disinfectants. In addition, the plate is supplied with a lockable lid (ICRplus; +) for safe transport after sampling without the risk of losing the lid. ICRplus plates are suitable for aerobic and anaerobic incubation by turning the lid into the close position for aerobic incubation and in the vent position for anaerobic incubation. To differentiate better SDA from TSA media, the SDA media is filled in pink dish.

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) is a complex medium for cultivation and isolation of yeasts and molds. The media finds its application in environmental monitoring by determining the yeast and mold count on surfaces in isolators and clean rooms.
