General description

Elastin−Congo red is a substrate-dye conjugate and is used in agar medium to probe elastase activity. The presence of elastase functionality leads to cleavage of the dye from the elastin substrate.
Substrate for the estimation of elastase.

Application

Elastin−Congo red has been used as a substrate for neutrophil elastase, salivary elastase and P. aeruginosa.

Other Notes

Elastin impregnated with Congo red dye.
