suitable for determination of protein concentration

General description

Protein determination is one of the most common operations performed in biochemical research. Bicinchoninic acid solution is used in the bicinchoninic acid (BCA) assay, which is equivalent to the Lowry procedure. Both rely on the formation of a Cu2+-protein complex under alkaline conditions, followed by reduction of the Cu2+ to Cu1+. The amount of reduction is proportional to the protein present. The BCA assay is more sensitive and applicable than either biuret or Lowry procedures.

Application

Bicinchoninic Acid solution (Bicinchoninic acid protein assay kit) is used :
  • For the determination of total protein content in the process of quantifying bromelain, extracted from the pineapple stem residues using aqueous micellar two-phase systems composed of ionic liquids as co-surfactants.
  • For the determination of bovine serum albumin (BSA) in biomimetic calcium phosphate coating co-precipitated on titanium alloy plates.

This product is commonly used for protein determination by the Bicinchoninic Acid (BCA) method.

Features and Benefits

  • It is easy to use.
  • The color complex is stable.
  • There is less susceptibility to detergents.
  • It is applicable over a broad range of protein concentrations.

Packaging

Also available as part of the Bicinchoninic Acid Kit for Protein Determination (BCA-1).
