Polo样激酶1（PLK-1）是一种丝氨酸-苏氨酸蛋白激酶，在细胞周期的M期起着多种重要功能，包括调节中心体成熟和纺锤体组装、去除染色体臂（chromosome arm）的粘连蛋白、APC/C 抑制剂的失活、有丝分裂结束和胞质分裂的调节。 表达的PLK-1 蛋白在G2和M 期聚集至最高水平，在有丝分裂以后和整个G1期下降至几乎不可测的水平，然后在S期再次开始聚集。
