DOMAIN: SwissProt: P29972 Aquaporins contain two tandem repeats each containing three membrane-spanning domains and a pore-forming loop with the signature motif Asn-Pro-Ala (NPA).
SIMILARITY: Belongs to the MIP/aquaporin (TC 1.A.8) family.
MISCELLANEOUS: Pharmacologically inhibited by submillimolar concentrations of mercury.

Highly purified peptide corresponding to residues 242-260 of human Aquaporin 1 (SwissProt accession number P29972).

Western blotting: 1:500-1:1000 on rat kidney membranes.

Immunohistochemistry

Dilutions should be made using a carrier protein such as BSA (1-3%).

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.

Recognizes Aquaporin 1.

SPECIES REACTIVITIES: The epitope specific for Aquaporin 1 is identical in human, rodent, bovine and only slightly different in frog (18/19 aa). Reactivity with other species has not yet been tested.

Purified immunoglobulin. Lyophilized from PBS, pH 7.4, containing 0.025% sodium azide. Reconstitute with 200 μL of sterile distilled water. Centrifuge antibody preparation before use (10,000 x g for 5 min).

Maintain lyophilized material at -20°C for up to 6 months after date of receipt. After reconstitution maintain at -20°C in undiluted aliquots for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Included free of charge with the antibody is 40 μg of control antigen (lyophilized powder). Reconstitute with 100 μL of deionized water. For negative control, preincubate 1.0 μg of purified peptide with 1 μg of antibody for one hour at room temperature. Optimal concentrations must be determined by the end user.
