链霉素可用于研究链霉素抗性的机制，并常与青霉素以及其他药物一起用于抑制细胞培养应用中的细菌污染。 推荐以25-50μg/mL用于分子生物学应用，100 mg/L用于细胞培养应用以及50 mg/L用于胚胎培养。

Biochem/physiol Actions

作用机制：链霉素可通过与30S核糖体亚基的S12蛋白结合而抑制原核生物蛋白的合成，从而阻止了从模拟复合物向链延长核糖体的转变。 这会导致编码错误或抑制启动。

耐药性机制：rpsL这种S12核糖体蛋白基因中的突变可阻止链霉素与核糖体结合。 一种氨基糖苷磷酸转移酶也可使链霉素失活。

抗菌谱：链霉素能够对抗革兰氏阴性和革兰氏阳性菌。
