NIH 3T3 Cell Line murine

NIH 3T3 Cell Line has been used to:

• study calcium-mediated actin reset (CaAR) in response to physiological changes
• study the effects of activation of the transient receptor potential vanilloid 3 channel (TRPV3) on adipocyte differentiation
• determine the viral titer of the retroviral construct -ST40hTNFα

DNA transfection studies

Established from a NIH Swiss mouse embryo. These cells are sensitive to sarcoma virus focus formation and leukemia virus propogation. Cells have now lost their contact inhibition.

Mouse Swiss NIH embryo

DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Calf Serum (CS).

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-5x10,000 cells/cm² using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO₂; 37°C. Do not allow culture to become fully confluent; the use of fetal calf serum is not recommended.

This cell line is part of the European Collection of Authenticated Cell Cultures (ECACC), an international repository managed by the United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA). No licensing agreement is required when either this cell line or the DNA extracted from it are used for internal research purposes only. Any other use of these products is prohibited without the express written permission of UKHSA.
