General description
羟基脲是尿素的羟基化类似物。它有利于提高胎儿血红蛋白（HbF）水平，从而降低镰状细胞性贫血患者的危象发生频率和输血需求。羟基脲对S期表现出细胞周期特异性，导致细胞停滞在G1到S期。这种非烷基化S期特异性骨髓抑制剂的作用机制对血小板不具有特异性。

- MCF-7人乳腺肿瘤细胞、分裂酵母、苗木主根中的细胞周期同步化
- 在细胞活性和细胞周期实验中，治疗Leishmania mexicana寄生虫

Biochem/physiol Actions
抗肿瘤剂。通过形成自由基硝基氧灭活核糖核苷还原酶，自由基硝基氧可结合到酶活性位点的酪氨酰自由基。这可阻断脱氧核苷酸的合成，从而抑制 DNA 合成，并且诱导细胞周期同步化或 S-期细胞死亡。
