Application
脂多糖（LPS）是革兰氏阴性菌细胞壁的特征组分。LPS及其脂质A部分可通过能够识别常见的病原体相关分子模式（PAMP）的Toll样受体蛋白家族成员Toll样受体4（TLR4）刺激先天性免疫系统细胞。
Biochem/physiol Actions
脂多糖（LPS）位于膜的外层，并且暴露在无包膜菌株的细胞表面。它们有助于维持外层膜的完整性，并保护细胞免受胆汁盐和亲脂性抗生素的破坏。
Preparation Note
本品溶于水(5 mg/ml)或细胞培养基（1 mg/ml），得到浑浊的淡黄色溶液。以中更为浓缩但仍然模糊的溶液（20 mg/ml）可形成于涡旋并升温至70-80oC后。脂多糖是在每种溶剂中都形成胶束的分子。在水和磷酸盐缓冲液中都能观察到模糊的溶液。有机溶剂也不会产生更为清澈的溶液。甲醇可产生具有漂浮物的混浊悬浮液，而水则能产生均匀模糊的溶液。
