General description

视黄醇又称维生素A醇，是维生素A的主要循环形式。它不具有生物活性。视黄醇又称全反式视黄醇，是一种带有环己烯基环的20碳分子，具有带四个双键（反式构型）的侧链和一个醇端基。

Application

视黄醇已被用于：
  • HepG2细胞中全反式-视黄酸的合成。
  • 研究视黄醇对作为类器官培养的鼠正常结肠细胞生长的影响。
  • 测定细胞中维生素A的标准品。
  • 作为体外睾丸器官培养和精子发生的成分确定培养基的成分。

Biochem/physiol Actions

视黄醇是活性类视黄醇的前体。它可转化为视黄醛，然后再转化为视黄酸。All-trans及9-cis-视黄酸是核受体、视黄酸受体（RAR）和类视黄醇X受体（RXR）的配体。这些受体是多种基因的转录调控因子。
视黄醇及其衍生物有抗衰老特性。另外，它还起抗皱剂的作用。然而，由于对光不稳定并具有皮肤刺激性，它没有被广泛用于化妆品配方。视黄醇可用于治疗包括光衰老在内的皮肤病。它的缺乏与干燥症和滤泡性角化过度症的发展有关。
