Gene Information
human ... NR1I2(8856)
General description
This gene product belongs to the nuclear receptor superfamily, members of which are transcription factors characterized by a ligand-binding domain and a DNA-binding domain. The encoded protein is a transcriptional regulator of the cytochrome P450 gene CYP3A4, binding to the response element of the CYP3A4 promoter as a heterodimer with the 9-cis retinoic acid receptor RXR. It is activated by a range of compounds that induce CYP3A4, including dexamethasone and rifampicin. Several alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms, some of which use non-AUG (CUG) translation initiation codon, have been described for this gene. Additional transcript variants exist, however, they have not been fully characterized. (provided by RefSeq)

Benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) is a known carcinogen cytotoxic which can trigger extensive cellular responses. Many evidences suggest that inhibitors of poly(ADP-ribose) glycohydrolase (PARG) are potent anticancer drug candidates. However, the role of PARG in BaP carcinogenesis is less understood. Here we

(Pro)renin receptor (PRR) is predominantly expressed in the distal nephron where it is activated by angiotensin II (ANG II), resulting in increased renin activity in the renal medulla thereby amplifying the de novo generation and action of local ANG II.

Proteinase-activated receptor-2 (PAR2) is involved in dermatophyte-induced scratching and leukotriene B4 (LTB4) release from keratinocytes. We investigated whether PAR2-mediated LTB4 production is involved in dermatophyte-induced scratching. Dermatophyte extract was injected intradermally and scratching was observed in mice. LTB4 was determined
