General description
人胶原IV包含六个基因。COL4A1-COL4A2定位于13号染色体。COL4A3-COL4A4和COL4A5-COL4A6分别位于2号染色体和X号染色体上。它属于胶原超家族，并与基底膜（BMs）相关。六个α链，即α1（IV）至α6（IV）包含N端半胱氨酸和赖氨酸结构域，典型的Gly-X-Y三重重复序列和C端非胶原（NC1）结构域。

Biochem/physiol Actions
胶原蛋白IV在基底膜组装中起关键作用。六个链组装成三个不同的原体，即α 1.α1.α2（IV）、α3.α4.α5（IV）和α 5.α5.α6（IV）。三聚体以α-链的不同组合形成。在专门的肾小球BM（GBM）中观察到α3、α4和α5的高表达水平。COlA5基因的突变与Alport综合征有关，而α3（IV）链与Goodpasture综合征（一种自身免疫性疾病）的发病机制有关。COlA5中的突变也与弥漫性食管平滑肌瘤病有关。
