Application

Sodium borohydride (NaBH₄) is a stable hydrogen carrier, which can be used as a chemical hydrogen storage material. It can also be used as an anodic fuel for alternative energy applications such as the fabrication of fuel cells. NaBH₄ can also be used in the reduction of graphene oxide in the presence of CaCl₂ as a catalyst.

Sodium borohydride can be used to prepare:

Silica-coated silver nanoparticles, which are functionalized with various vitamins and antibiotics as bioactive materials.
Water-soluble oligoamine conjugated chitosans for biomedical applications.
Gold nanoparticles coated with poly(methacrylic acid), which are used for theranostic applications.
