General description

Nickel(II) chloride, free-flowing,Redi-Dri anhydrous, powder, 99.99% trace metals basis is an orange powder with minimal trace metal contamination (≤ 150.0 ppm), making it ideal for applications that demand stringent quality and performance standards. It is a water and alcohol soluble salt.

We packaged anhydrous Nickel chloride in our innovative Redi Dri packaging, which easily can prevent the absorption of moisture. The packaging has distinct features and advantages.

Application

Nickel chloride, free-flowing,Redi-Dri™, anhydrous, is commonly used for nickel plating on cast zinc, as an agent in the electrolytic refining of nickel, as a chemical intermediate in the production of nickel catalysts and complex nickel salts, and as an absorber of ammonia gas in industrial gas masks, among other applications. [] Nickel chloride, with its high potential and large current discharge capacity, is regarded as a promising cathode candidate for research areas of high-power thermal batteries. [] A broad range of acyclic and cyclic dithioacetals can be chemoselectively synthesized from their corresponding aldehydes using a catalytic amount of nickel(II) chloride in dry CH2Cl2–MeOH (5:1) at room temperature, yielding good results. [] Another significant application of NiCl2 is in polymerization reactions, especially in the production of polyolefins (such as polyethylene and polypropylene). In olefin polymerization, NiCl2-based catalysts are used to control the polymer′s molecular weight and structural properties, enabling the production of tailor-made polymers with specific characteristics. The product is suitable for the cross-coupling of aryl mesylates, tosylates, chlorides, bromides, and iodides with aryl boronic acids. []

Packaging:

10g in poly bottle with Redi Dri(TM) packaging

Redi Dri(TM) is an innovative packaging system that prevents absorption of environmental moisture by anhydrous & hydroscopic salts during transport and chemical storage without addition of anti-caking agents, preserving the compounds′ quality assured, free-flowing nature. Redi-Dri(TM) also provides a conveniently resealable storage container as a simpler and safer-to-use alternative to one-time-use packaging such as ampules.

While the Redi-Dri(TM) packaging system does offer desiccating properties, opening and closing of the Redi-Dri(TM) bottle is still intended to occur under controlled atmosphere to maintain the highest quality of your MilliporeSigma product

Features and Benefits

  1. Longer shelf-life as a free-flowing powder without addition of anti-caking agents
  2. Slower absorption of environmental moisture
  3. Faster dissolution compared to clumped materials
  4. No need to chip, chisel, or grind clumped salts.
The vapor-phase co-reductions with other metal halides such as aluminum chloride (cat. no. 449598) by hydrogen results in finely divided intermetallics with applications as structural materials or compounds with useful thermoelectric, magnetic, and oxidation-resistance properties. Used in the synthesis of semiconducting metal-containing polymers in which the polypyrrole backbone has a conformational energy minimum and is nearly planar.
