General description

18:0-22:6 PA or 1-stearoyl-2-docosahexaenoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphate (sodium salt) is a sodium salt of phosphatidic acid, with substitution of stearic acid and docosahexaenic acid at the sn-1 and sn-2 positions respectively, in the glycerol backbone.

Application

18:0-22:6 PA or 1-stearoyl-2-docosahexaenoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphate (sodium salt) has been used in liposomes to study its role during coat protein I (COPI) vesicle fission. It has also been used in liposomes to determine the lipid-binding properties of the Praja-1 protein.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidic acid (PA) is known to be essential for fission stage of coat protein I (COPI) vesicle formation.
