General description

FTM 15 ml in 25 ml tube.
Fluid Thioglycollate Medium is a universal complex medium. Thioglycollate and L-Cystine reduce the redox potential of the culture medium and create an anaerobic atmosphere, along with inactivating mercury and other heavy metal compounds. The presence of agar reduces a rapid diffusion of oxygen through the medium but may lead to slight turbidity in larger volumes (filled bottles). Resazurin indicates the reduction potential of the medium. An increased concentration of oxygen is indicated by a color change to pink.

Application

Fluid Thioglycollate Medium is used for the isolation and cultivation of fastidious anaerobic and aerobic microorganisms. It is suitable for sterility control of pharmaceutical products.
