General description

Tryptone Glucose Extract Broth with TTC is recommended for the enumeration of bacteria in water, air, milk and dairy products. It is used as a standard medium for the bacteriological plate count and is also used for the detection of thermophilic bacteria in milk and dairy products. Tryptone and yeast extract provide nitrogenous and carbonaceous compounds, long-chain amino acids, vitamin B complex and other essential growth nutrients. Glucose is the energy source, TTC is used as an indicator for easy enumeration. Colonies appear red. Red colour in the colonies is produced by reduction of triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TTC).

Application

Tryptone Glucose Extract Broth with TTC is used as a non-selective medium to detect total heterotrophic microorganisms in water, dairy products and other liquids like Beer, Bottled Water, Cider, Soft Drink, Sport Drink and Wine. The media finds its application in Clinical, Cosmetics, Environmental Analysis, Food and Beverage and Industrial QC.

Features and Benefits

  • Ready-to-use Liquid ampoule media solve numerous problems in microbiology laboratories where time, equipment, and trained personnel are often in short supply.
  • They are available in convenient, single-test 2 mL plastic ampoules, eliminating the manipulation of glass ampoules and avoiding the waste and spoilage associated with bulk packaged media.
