General description
Potassium chloride (KCl) is useful in studies of ion transport and potassium channels. KCl is known to be used in the crystallization of histone core octamers.
Application
Potassium chloride has been used:
- to prepare phosphate buffer saline for phosphate calcium transfection
- as a component of lysis buffer used for the isolation of cytosolic and nuclear proteins
- to prepare phosphate buffer saline used for protein isolation from gram-positive bacteria
May be used for the preparation of phosphate buffered saline, and for the extraction and solubilization of proteins.
