General description
Ruthenium Red is a hexavalent polysaccharide stain. It inhibits mitochondrial Ca2+ uniporter. It is a capsaicin antagonist and blocks vanilloid receptor-1 (VR-1)-coupled ion channels.
Application
Ruthenium Red has been used for microscopic characterization of cotton tip morphology. It has also been used as a TRPV2 channel blocker.
