General description
Hydrobromic acid is the strongest mineral acid that is used as a brominating agent in the preparation of organobromine compounds and inorganic bromides. It is also used as a catalyst in a variety of organic reactions.
Application
Hydrobromic acid can be used as:
- A catalyst in transesterification reactions.
- A reagent to synthesize cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) via acidic hydrolysis of cotton fibers.
- A reactant to prepare denitrosation reagent.
