Octane can be used as a solvent in the:
- Selective hydrogenation of furfural.
- Metal-free oxidation of aromatic thiophenes to sulfones.
- Ni-catalyzed β-alkylation of alcohols.
- Enzyme-catalyzed epoxidation of unconjugated terminal alkenes.
