Biochem/physiol Actions

Irresistin-16, an SCH 79797 derivative, is a broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic that is effective in both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and exhibits low frequency of resistance. Irresistin-16 act through interruption of bacterial folate metabolism and bacterial membrane integrity. It inhibits E. coli dihydrofolate reductase FolA. Irresistin-16 is effective in mouse gonorrhea infection model.
