General description

Application: This highly polar biscyanopropyl column was specifically designed for detailed separation of geometricpositional (cis/trans) isomers of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs). It is extremely effective for FAME isomer applications.
USP Code: This column meets USP G5 requirements.
Phase:
  • Non-bonded
  • Poly(biscyanopropyl siloxane)
Temp. Limits:
  • Subambient to 250 °C (isothermal or programmed)

Application

The SP-2560 Capillary GC Columns meets the requirements as a USP G5 and AOAC® 2012.13,Ce 1-h05,996.06 designation. They are specifically designed for the detailed separation of geometric and positional (cis/trans) isomers of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) in array of industries.

Select Applicatons:
  • Comparision study for the simultaneous resolution of all the fatty acids (cis/trans) generally found in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils.
  • Utilization in GCxGC for separation of trans fats including elaidic and vaccenic acids in several foods including butter, beef tallow, cheese, and milk.

Other Notes

We offer a variety of chromatography accessories including analytical syringes

Protocols

AOCS and AOAC methods for determining the trans fatty acid composition of foods by gas chromatography require the use of a highly polar cyanosilicone capillary column to provide the best peak resolution attainable of the numerous geometric (cis & trans) and positional isomers.
