Environmental
Fomesafen is a selective pre-emergence herbicide for use in leguminous crops for post-emergence control of broad-leaved weeds. It is moderately soluble in aqueous solution, is relatively volatile but does have potential to leach to groundwater. Under Reg. (EC) No 1107/2009 fomesafen is not approved for use in the European Union as a plant protection product. Maximum residue levels (MRLs) for various products of plant and animal origin have been set according to Reg. (EU) 310/2011 for fomesafen in the range from 0.01 - 0.05 mg/kg. The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques.
