- 4,4′-Dihydroxybiphenyl (p,p′-biphenol; CAS 92-88-6) is an aromatic diol used asa building block in polymers and as an antioxidant; it is reported forpreparing plastics, as an intermediate for polyether liquid crystals, and as anantioxidant in rubber/latex, including light‑colored rubber, food packaging,and medical latex products.
- In the EU, it appears in Annex I (Union list) of Commission Regulation (EU)No 10/2011, meaning it may be intentionally used in plastic food‑contact layerssubject to the Regulation’s restrictions.
