General description

ʟ-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid involved in the biosynthesis of catecholamines, thyroid hormones, and melanin. The USP ʟ-Tyrosine standard guarantees the purity and quality of this amino acid, supporting its use in peptide synthesis, cell culture media, and therapeutic development.

The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) provides quality standards for biologics to ensure their safety, efficacy, and quality throughout the manufacturing process. These standards assist manufacturers in adhering to regulatory requirements and help safeguard public health by reducing risks associated with biologics.

Application

ʟ-Tyrosine USP reference standard, intended for use in specified quality tests and assays as specified in the USP compendia. Also, for use with USP monographs such as:
  • Tyrosine
  • Glycyl-l-tyrosine
  • Levodopa
  • N-Acetyltyrosine
  • Hyaluronidase Injection

There is evidence that L-tyrosine and L-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA), besides serving as substrates and intermediates of melanogenesis, are also bioregulatory agents acting not only as inducers and positive regulators of melanogenesis but also as regulators of other cellular functions. These can
