General description

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is an important constituent of the mucosal layer of the colon. 18:0-18:1 PC (1-stearoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) has a phosphocholine backbone.

Application

18:0-18:1 PC (1-stearoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) may be used:
  • in liposomes for liposome binding assays
  • to prepare giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) by electroformation
  • to prepare lipid vesicles

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) plays a major role in endocytosis and the catalytic activity of enzymes.
