Tris Buffered Saline, with Tween® 20, pH 8.0 has been used as a wash buffer in western blotting and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. It has also been used along with 5% milk to block proteins on nitrocellulose in western blotting.

Contents of one pouch, when dissolved in one liter of distilled or deionized water, will yield 0.05 M Tris buffered saline (NaCl - 0.138 M; KCl - 0.0027 M); TWEEN® 20 - 0.05%, pH 8.0, at 25 °C.
